Boquete Cloud Forest/ Panamá

Located in the western region of the republic of Panama, near the Costa Rican border; (Paso Canoas) Bouquete’s land covers about 350 square miles and its altitude is between 800 and 3,000 meters above the seal level. The town of Boquete is located about 340 miles from Panama City. By land it takes about five to seven hours to get from Panama City to Boquete, and by air it takes about an hour from Panama City to David, and then about a half hour from David to Boquete on land. The indigenous ethnic group the Gnobe Bugles live in the sheer mountains that surround the valley and Boquete, Panama. They are also known as Guaymies. They usually provide work for the coffee plantations and farms, but they are also highly skilled artisans famous for colourful bead necklaces, and traditional women’s dresses of the regions.

Bird watching is another top attraction for Boquete, Panama. In this region you can see the elusive Quetzal, which are beautiful birds that were considered sacred by the Mayas. Over 43 different species of Quetzals have been reported and documented in the mountains surrounding Boquete, Panama.
